A fond farewell from Richard Hurrell

After 40 years of providing dentistry and 33 wonderful years of working at Heatherstone Dental Practice, I have retired from the practice.

It goes without saying that I will miss all the patients that have made my work so enjoyable over the last 33 years and I would like to thank them for trusting me with their dental care over so many years; I have considered it to be a great privilege.

I must admit though, I'm looking forward to having more time to enjoy my hobbies of mountaineering and cycling with friends and family. I intend to continue encouraging young people to explore the outdoors by supervising and assessing Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions and assisting with mountain trips for scouts and scout leaders using my summer and winter mountain leader qualifications.

Even whilst I'm planning my retirement, your ongoing care is my first priority and in recent months we have been engaged in an exhaustive recruitment process that will ensure your ongoing care will be provided to the highest standard.

We are delighted to say that Mr. Max Waller has joined Heatherstone Dental Practice as I step down. Max is a very experienced dentist and shares my philosophy of patient focused, preventative care and I'm confident he will be a part of our continuing commitment to excellence at Heatherstone Dental Practice.

You'll be pleased to know the rest of our dedicated team are continuing, so you'll still see the same familiar faces at your next appointment. If you have any questions for our team, please call us on 01794 513100.

Dr Richard Brookes (formerly Brookes-Butt): Dental Surgeon; BDS (Hons), MFDS RCS Edin; Country of issue: United Kingdom; GDC registration number: 191824 https://www.gdc-uk.; Richard graduated in 2010 from Bristol University with Honours and went on to complete a Maxillofacial post at Queen Alexandra Hospital. Since then he has been working in general practice in Wiltshire and Hampshire. He is currently finishing his Masters degree in Advanced General Dental Practice at the University of Birmingham, to ensure he uses the latest high quality techniques and particularly enjoys restorative and preventative dentistry.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys an active life, playing football, running and enjoying time outside with his family and dog.

Dr Julia Gill: Dental Surgeon; BDS; Country of issue: United Kingdom; GDC registration number: 85977 https://www.gdc-uk.org/; Julia qualified at the University of Sheffield in 2005 and is joining the Heatherstone Team in March 2022.
Julia is enthusiastic about dentistry and continually strives to perfect her skills, through continued education in restorative and cosmetic techniques. She has also undertaken postgraduate training in dental Implantology, Inman aligner and Smilelign Orthodontics. (Photo coming soon)

Karen joined Heatherstone in 2010. She graduated from Peninsula Dental School in Plymouth, and has since completed a post-graduate certificate in primary dental care from the University of Kent, and has attended further courses making her a certified Invisalign provider, utilising removable aligners for the straightening of teeth in adults. Karen also offers SmileFast which provide composite veneers with minimal to no prep required on the teeth.

Karen lives with her husband, who is also a dentist, their two children and their dog. When she isn't working, she enjoys participating in sports and outdoor activities, and being a "foodie" has a real passion for baking.

Dr Christopher Hill: Dental Surgeon; BDS; Country of issue: United Kingdom; GDC registration number: 251571 https://www.gdc-uk.org/; Chris graduated from Bristol University in 2014 and joined the Heatherstone Team in May 2022. After qualifying, he returned to Hampshire to complete his foundation training and postgraduate certificate. Chris enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, and is confident in performing more complex cosmetic and restorative treatments. Also, he finds it especially rewarding earning the trust of nervous patients.
In his spare time, Chris likes to keep fit and enjoys exploring the countryside around his home in the Test Valley.

Max is an ethical dentist, who believes in providing excellent patient care through high quality dentistry. Having always been proud of his high standard of work and professionalism, Max focuses on building trust, with patient care at the core of his values.

Before joining the Heatherstone Team, Max was a Dental Practice owner for 8 years and worked at a number of Private Dental Practices around Hampshire.

Max grew up in Hampshire, close to where he currently lives with his wife and two children. In his spare time, Max tends to be taken with child-friendly outdoor activities including sailing dinghies in the River Hamble and mountain biking. Also, Max enjoys cooking a range of recipes from all over the world and baking bread.

During Covid 19 times, Linda came into Heatherstone to start the practice operating again and she never left!
Linda was soon promoted to Head Nurse and is now our Practice Manager. You will see Linda in surgery nursing when a member of our team is lucky enough to be on holiday or Linda will be tucked away in her office ensuring the smooth running of the practice. Outside of work Linda has a passion for cooking, travelling and reading.
